Tax Audits And Investigations

Few events can destabilise a company as much as a Revenue investigation.  The enforcement powers of Revenue Inspectors are extensive and they are becoming more sophisticated in their detection methods.

Given the relatively low tax rates at present, it makes little sense to engage in any kind of questionable practice.  This is especially the case as the costs of non-compliance can be devastating if interest and penalties are applied.

We have extensive experience acting for companies and their directors in audits ranging from routine local office investigations to the most serious tax fraud allegations.  We take a proactive approach to dealing with Revenue Inspectors and through this prompt intervention we can often significantly reduce the audit cycle time and remove the need for Revenue to extend investigations.  With our team in place, owner-managers are better able to concentrate on their business, secure in the knowledge that the investigation is being competently handled.

Our approach is generally to conduct a pre-audit inspection of the relevant books and records and use our expertise to identify any potential issues.  If serious problems are indicated, we can ensure that the information is presented to the Revenue in an accurate and complete manner so that penalties and liabilities have the best chance of being minimised.

We can also assist clients in implementing compliance procedures for tax, social welfare and VAT liabilities.  In cases of possible prosecution, we ensure that the client receives proper legal advice and representation.

We also have considerable experience in settling cases involving bogus non-resident and offshore bank accounts.
